Investing in New Tyres and Wheels

Hello! I'm Andy and this is my story. Last year, I was driving home from work when I suddenly felt that something was right. My car started to shake and vibrate. I was really scared and I pulled over to the side of the road. When I took a look at my car, I noticed that there was a problem with one of the wheels. I had the car towed to an auto repair shop and they inspected it. The mechanic explained that the wheel was misaligned and this had caused the tyre to wear down, leading to a complete failure. He explained the steps I would need to take to look after my tyres and wheels and since then, I have taught myself everything there is to know about the subject.

What's new in SUV Tyres for 2019?

SUV tyres typically need to perform at a higher level than regular vehicle tyres. This is because SUVs are used for many different purposes, including off-road and long-distance driving. The tyres equipped on these vehicles are expected to have better braking efficiency, increased durability and highly accurate wheel alignment.

With every passing year, tyre manufacturers invest in new technologies that are aimed at making SUV tyres better. The good news is that there has been significant progress over time. Modern tyres keep drivers safer while on the road, without causing a significant dent in their wallets.

2019 is another exciting year for SUV tyres. In fact, there are several new technologies that you can expect to enjoy when purchasing a new set of tyres for your vehicle.

Safer technologies

Safety is one of the biggest concerns for motorists and tyre manufacturers alike. All road users are looking for tyres that brake efficiently on wet roads, can sustain sharp turns and are less likely to obtain a puncture without notice. In line with these goals, you can expect to see changes made to the treading of SUV tyres.

Rather than having open spaces between the treading, some tyre manufacturers are using a rubber compound to fill these gaps and enhance performance. The compound is made from silica and elastomers that make your tyres maintain better contact with the road surface. In this way, your vehicle is less likely to skid on wet roads or lose stability on uneven surfaces.

Better fuel efficiency

Who wouldn't want to save on fuel consumption while driving? New tyre models come with better rotation and movement, such that your SUV is able to glide on the road and use less fuel per kilometre.

But how is this smooth movement possible? The secret lies in tyre treading. Innovative designs consist of multiple tread layers that will glide smoothly against each other and on the road surface. This minimises drag and exerts less pressure on your engine to power the vehicle while driving.

More innovative rim designs

As much as SUVs are known for performance, they're also known for style. Boring rim and tyre designs of the past are being replaced by stylish factory rims, which are capable of providing excellent support to heavy SUVs. These rims come with chrome and titanium finishes that give your vehicle a modern and elegant appearance as you cruise down the highway.

In the past, you would have to look for aftermarket rims and tyres to achieve a stylish look on your vehicle. Tyre manufacturers in 2019 are installing stylish rims right out of the factory for SUV drivers. To learn more about car tyres, contact your local tyre shop today.
